Job Description
Radius Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced roaming Appointed Person to cover nationwide delivery. The Appointed Person will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient planning and execution of lifting operations and tower crane activities, across various projects. This role demands a strong understanding of Health & Safety and Lifting Operation regulations, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to coordinate effectively with multiple stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and Coordination: Develop comprehensive Lift Plans, Risk Assessments and SSoWs for all lifting operations, considering factors such as equipment selection, load weights, centre of gravity, site conditions and environmental factors.
- Site Assessment and Preparation: Conduct site surveys to evaluate potential hazards, control measures and safe operating practices.
- Equipment Selection and Utilisation: Determine the appropriate lifting equipment/accessories and plant machinery required for the project; ensure all lifting equipment, including cranes, hoists, and rigging gear, are inspected, certified, and maintained.
- Execution and Supervision: Undertake Lifting Team briefings, Toolbox Talks and oversee the execution of lifting and plant installation operations, ensuring adherence to the lifting plan and safety protocols.
- Communication and Coordination: Establish effective communication channels between the project team, crane operators, riggers, and client representatives. Conduct pre-lift meetings and regular briefings to ensure all team members are informed and aligned.
- Compliance and Documentation: Compile and maintain accurate and comprehensive records, including lifting plans, risk assessments, inspection reports, and safety briefings. Prepare and submit necessary documentation, such as permits, certifications, and incident reports, to relevant authorities and stakeholders.
- Relevant technical qualification in construction, engineering, or a related field.
- Valid CPCS (Construction Plant Competence Scheme) Appointed Person (A61) or equivalent certification.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in planning and supervising lifting operations and plant installations, particularly with tower cranes.
- In-depth understanding of lifting equipment, plant machinery, Health & Safety regulations, LOLER98, PUWER98 and industry best practices.
- Strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficient in using relevant software for planning and documenting operations.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous planning and supervising lifting operations, ensuring all details are thoroughly considered.
- Problem-Solving: Proactive in identifying and resolving issues that may arise during operations.
- Team Player: Collaborative approach to working with various stakeholders, fostering a team-oriented environment.
- Safety-Conscious: Committed to maintaining a safe working environment and promoting a culture of safety within the team.
