What is the role of a Slinger / Signaller with an immediate start?

We are looking for a Slinger/Signaller to work with our Resource team on various projects across the UK. Their responsibility will be to coordinate the safe movement and placement of loads using the tower crane. This role is crucial in ensuring safe and precise lifting operations on the job site.
Responsibilities

  • Being aware of crane movements within the designated area of works and ensuring clear, concise communication is made with all Crane Supervisors, Slinger/Signallers, Crane Operators, Site Supervisors, and operatives involved within the lifting operation.
  • Ensure that no lifting operations are undertaken unless it is defined within the Lift Plan and Schedule of Lifts. Identify any lifts that are not covered by the Lift Plan or Schedule of lifts; stop and inform the Crane Supervisors and gaining necessary approval before proceeding.
  • Identifying and awareness of all site plant including but not exhaustive; Concrete Pumps and Booms, Excavators, Telehandlers, MEWPS etc. And ensure that all parties are aware of the crane and load movements and redefine any Crane/Load manoeuvring as required.
  • Select and attach the correct lifting accessories (such as slings, chains, and hooks) for the load to be lifted and safely secured to the crane’s hook as per the Lift Plan and Schedule of Lifts.
  • Attend all Shift Start Briefings, Toolbox Talks, Health and Safety Meetings or Crane Team meetings called by the AP.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications & Skills Required:

We welcome applicants with the following:
  • CPCS Certifications: Crane and Lifting Operations Supervisor, Slinger/Signaller
  • Experience: Previous experience Supervising and Co-ordinating Tower Cranes
  • Safety Awareness: Awareness and understanding of LOLER 1998, PUWER 1998, BS7121, Rigging and Slinging calculations and methodology.
  • Effective Communication: Clear, concise communication skills; able to lead and communicate with the Lifting Team, Contractors and Site Management.
