Radius was instructed by MWH Treatment, to find a solution to transport a dosing kiosk into their Severn Trent water treatment site. Due to the size of the load, it soon became apparent that a standard transport solution would not be feasible. Access to the site involved navigating a route with a narrow bridge, with a very steep incline and a 90-degree bend.
The client required Radius to find a solution for transporting the kiosk to their storage location, via public highways, and installing on-site. Due to the width of the kiosk and the very narrow roads we had to organise for specialist low loader transport and organise a police escort. Once the load was delivered to site, we then had to lift the kiosk and tranship to the SPMT ready for the transport operation to the final location.
The SPMT transport operation itself had its own challenges including a bridge crossing a network rail asset, a steep incline, and a 90-degree bend with very narrow access.
Our specialist technical team in the Contract Lift Division, we were able to complete a fully detailed plan which enabled us to meet the challenges presented on the route to site, and also deliver a successful SPMT operation.
Once the kiosk was delivered to the water treatment works, we then utilised the 60 te mobile crane to lift the kiosk from the SPMT and into it’s final position ready for the client to commission.
