RADIUS GROUP ERECTS BRAND NEW POTAIN MR229 TOWER CRANE AT L&Q SITE IN GREENWICH

We’re delighted to announce that we are the first lifting provider to erect a Potain MR 229 luffing jib crane on a UK construction site. This brand-new model offers a maximum load capacity of 14te, jib lengths from 30m to 55m, and the option of two new to market hoist winches, 75HPL35 or 110HPL35.  But the key feature to this crane in addition to the optimized load curve is the new and improved standard out of service radius (Only 10.25m when configured with a 45m jib!) which simplifies installation and interface on dense & congested job sites.

This new crane is also offering the Manitowoc Crane Control System (CCS) which is an innovative feature offering a user-friendly interface, full graphic display, ergonomic controls, and a jog dial for easier navigation and data input. This is great because it has excellent load chart performance including Potain +.

CCS is already rolled out on all Potain 9 series cranes, offering improved performance, faster operation, and enhanced accuracy. Equipped with the new Potain Connect telematics makes this crane a class leader.

The MR 229 has lower component weights compared to similar class cranes.  This has reduced mobile crane size and with compact transportation will reduce costs for the end user. Another positive impact is related to the reduced power requirement and noise level thanks to the HPL winch technology.

Potain builds more than 60 types of tower cranes to fit a wide variety of job sites and are recognised for their ease of use, lifting power, versatility and reliability – and now, faster commissioning times.

The MR 229 will be the fourth and final tower crane to be erected at the L&Q Greenwich site, which will create 476 new homes, 70% of which will be affordable. For more information on this project click here
