Tower Crane Division, Senior Administrator, Shauny Timmins talks to us about her busy role, the best parts of her job, and what motivates her; she also gives us an insight into who she is outside of Radius. Over to you Shauny!

How long have you worked at Radius?
4 Years

What career path did you take to get to where you are now? long have you worked at Radius?
Ermmm professional kitchen work, hospitality front and back of house, Vauxhall van building, aeroplane engineering and now here I am at Radius… It’s been a diverse path thus far!

What does your daily routine look like?
Up at 06:30 leave house at 07:10 arrive at Radius for 07:30 – make tea. Sit at desk. . . .I don’t move again until I go home! In all seriousness, I am responsible for being the first point of contact for tower crane enquiries, scheduling erection and dismantles, monitoring programmes, and supporting the crews and any problems they have. Plus, lots more!

What is your biggest accomplishment since working at Radius?
Having a good enough understanding of the industry and the technicalities of tower crane hire, to become a Senior Administrator.

How have you grown professionally whilst working at Radius?
I have gained a great deal of knowledge and yet I still learn something new every day! I also have a much better understanding of Excel, which is particularly useful in my role.

What are the best parts of your job?
I enjoy speaking with our customers and being able to help them with their queries whenever possible. I love how my role forces me to be organised – If I don’t stay organised and arrange my day, my job would be very difficult.  I get a great sense of achievement – not necessarily crossing things off my list – but having a full list of what I need to do and prioritising where to start!

What is the biggest challenge you have experienced?
Hinkley Point – I won’t rant too much, but as you can imagine, with this being a nuclear power station, it is a very challenging site.  There is a lot of red tape involved in getting our team and vehicles on and off-site.  It sometimes feels like it’s my job unknot all the red tape!

What motivates you at work?
My team members help to spur me on during challenging times; both professionally and personally. Also, doing a good job motivates me. I know it sounds rather basic, but I pride myself on working hard.  If I feel like I’m not at my best, I get quite upset, which I am sure my line manager would confirm!

Perfect dinner party guests – you can have four (dead or alive)!
Robin Williams, Emma Stone, Stephanie Myer, Jensen Ackles.

Do you have any hidden talents?
I’ve been taking dance classes for 2 years now.  I am also fairly fluent in sign language.

Name something you are really good at?
Making gingerbread (according to my partner).

What’s the best place you’ve travelled to?
My partner and I went to Prague a couple of years ago which I really enjoyed.  We’re currently planning a trip to New Orleans this year for my 30th, which is going to be incredible!

Do you play any sports?
Yes, but well.  I play tennis on occasion.  When the weather is warm, I like to run. I don’t like doing anything competitively though – enjoy doing it, but I don’t want the stress that comes with competing!
