Potain MR418
The former Debenhams had to be restored to its shell, in preparation for future use as a mixed-use development. We were instructed by John F Hunt to work with them on full internal strip out, deconstruction of 12 escalators, 7 access lifts and the removal of plant and equipment from the roof.
The original scheme was planned to erect the tower crane outside the building to enable demolition. All road closures, traffic management, road diversions, licences etc had all been arranged, for the erection. However, due to issues out of our control, there was a last-minute change of plan, resulting in our technical engineers having only 2 weeks to produce a new scheme. They didn’t want to lose the original road closures etc., or delay the programme, so they devised a new plan which resulted in putting the tower crane through the central atrium of the building, facilitating the demolition, and rescuing the customer’s original construction timeline.
Once the building had been demolished, the mobile cranes were positioned within the footprint of the original building to complete the dismantle of the tower crane; resulting in road closures etc., again, saving time and money for our customer.
