Our Collaboration with Skyline Cockpit Has Lead to Being Shortlisted for Another Award
We are thrilled to share that Radius group has been shortlisted for another prestigious award!
Following our recent success through achieving a finalist status in the Construction News Specialists Awards for ‘Technology Innovation of the Year’, Radius Group and Skyline Cockpit have now been recognised in the Best Use of Technology: Health, Safety & Wellbeing category at TechFest 2024 ‘powered by’ Construction News and New Civil Engineer.
This category recognises businesses using technology to improve health, safety and wellbeing; focusing on one or all areas of health, safety and wellbeing, and having a measurable impact on the workforce and individuals with the technology driving that change.
Our partnership with Skyline Cockpit emphasizes our commitment to improving the health, safety and wellbeing of tower crane operators. This innovative approach transforms traditional tower crane operator cabins into secure, ground-controller computerised cockpits. With health and safety at the forefront of operations, the cockpit integrates multi-angle camera systems that provide a comprehensive view of the hook and load line. Coupled with cutting-edge software fusion & AR technology, the exact landing spot can be anticipated in real-time, ensuring quality and efficiency remain uncompromised.
Aviv Carmel, Co-founder of Skyline Cockpit, previously pointed out that tower cranes have seen little innovation in recent decades and questioned whether crane operators need to be hundreds of feet above the ground or even on site at all. This insight has accumulated global praise, particularly with the cockpit – after a successful 12 week trial – now successfully operating at a site in Birmingham. ‘The system is truly revolutionary, standing as the world’s only ground controlled tower crane system’, states Radius Group’s Operations Director Teddy Holt.
We have aspirations for this innovative technology to be applied across all our projects, helping to minimize the future potential risks when dealing with heavy machinery and materials. We also hope to increase the attractiveness of a Tower Crane operators role, opening up a career path to a various individuals wanting to gain experience within the lifting industry and avoid previously associated health risks when working at height.
