The aim of this toolbox talk is crystal clear: to ensure all our drivers, whether they’re part of our team or contracted from agencies, are fully aware of the importance of recording, investigating, and analysing incidents, traffic collisions, and near-misses.
Why is this important? Understanding the root causes of these incidents is crucial for implementing effective measures to prevent them from happening again in the future. It’s not just about addressing the symptoms but also about digging deeper to tackle the underlying issues.
So, how do we determine if an incident or traffic collision has occurred? It’s when any of the following situations arise:
- Injury to any person other than the driver
- Damage caused to another vehicle
- Damage caused to property on or next to the road
- Injury to a domestic animal (like dogs, horses, etc.)
